The Neighbourhoods of The City University of Hong Kong

For students starting a new phase of life in university, it must be quite a headache flat hunting before the term begins. Worry not, finding the most suitable neighbourhood near your school is not as difficult as it seems.

Shek Kip Mei

Rather than the obvious choice of Kowloon Tong, let’s explore other options. Bordering Kowloon Tong is Shek Kip Mei, which primarily consists of public housing but is now on the rise in terms of private housing, such as Beacon Heights and Dynasty Heights. Shek Kip Mei is an old neighbourhood with mostly mom-and-pop stores which make grocery shopping for your daily amenities rather economical. The Shek Kip Mei Estate Market and Cooked Food Stalls is a fantastic place to do your grocery shopping.

Lok Fu

Part of Wong Tai Sin district, Lok Fu is essentially a convenient neighbourhood to stay in if you are attending CityU. When it comes to grocery shopping or just shopping in general, there is Lok Fu Plaza, which is the largest mall in the area and houses 160 retailers, 40 restaurants, the Japanese department store UNY and a wet market. On a side note, if you are a Pokemon Go fan, Morse Park has been known to be one of the best location to catch rare Pokemons!!
