What to do in Quarry Bay

Weekends are usually a time to explore different areas in Hong Kong – while some people living in New Territories may venture out to Hong Kong Island for some fun and excitement, other Hong Kong Island residents tend to go to quieter areas of the island. If you’re planning to visit or live in Quarry Bay, here are certain spots to check out in the neighbourhood!

Quarry Bay Promenade

Opened December 2012, Quarry Bay Promenade provides a spacious leisure spot for both people and dogs. As the Promenade is located right next to the sea, you have a grand view of the harbour while jogging or walking your dogs on the 500 metre long road.

Sugar Rooftop Bar

If you’re planning to let loose and get your drink on, head over to East Hotel in Taikoo Shing for happy hour! While sipping on a juicy cocktail, you can also sit back, relax and enjoy the stunning view of the Hong Kong skyline. To get the best of both worlds, head over to Sugar in the late afternoon to watch the sunset and witness the day to night transition!

Island East Markets

Island East markets are held every Sunday all year round, no matter rain or shine. The Sunday market features a range of stalls, from local organic produce to designers, craftsmen and sustainable retailers. Anyone can rent a stall for the day, as long as they have local products to sell or wish to gain more exposure for their business.

City Plaza

If you’re a typical Hong Konger who loves to stay in air-conditioned areas, head over to City Plaza for shoppers’ paradise. As the shopping mall features a range of local and international brands, you are bound to find one of your favourite shops there. If you get tired of shopping, you can always watch a movie at the cinema in the shopping mall.

Sir Cecil’s Ride Hiking Trail

Who knew that you could go hiking on the urban area of Hong Kong Island? For those who like to be close to nature on the weekends, check out Sir Cecil’s Ride hiking trail, which begins at Braemar Hill, passes through a spectacular waterfall and ends at Quarry Bay. In fact, the end of the trail brings you to Island East markets, so you could plan whole day trip in the same neighbourhood!
