Photographs Of Old Hong Kong And The Tales They Tell

David Bellis will show a selection of old Hong Kong photographs from his collection, and tell us the stories behind them.

Most of the photos were taken around 1900-1930, and show a Hong Kong that has long since disappeared. They have been scanned at high-resolution and digitally restored, so David can zoom in to show us their hidden details.

The photos and stories are grouped around four themes:
A walk around Central
West to East along Queen's Road
South to North from Peak to Kowloon
Construction and Destruction

There will be an opportunity to ask questions after the talk.

David runs the popular local-history website, Gwulo.com. It hosts over 12,000 pages (including more than 6,400 photos) about old Hong Kong.
