Editor's Review: CHI Residences 120

Only five minutes walk from the Sai Ying Pun MTR station, CHI Residences 120 sits on the verge of the town facing the precious Victoria Harbour and features 19 1,050 sq ft one-bedroom units – one per floor.

My room on the 22nd floor has an unimpeded and panoramic view overlooking from Tsim Sha Tsui, ICC to the Tsing Yi bridge.

Lounging about on this sizeable velvet couch, I can watch the charming Lolita from 1962 in black and white on TCM, and look out to the glistening turquoise waters of the Harbour at the same time.

A floor mirror leaning restfully on the wall aside the floor-to-ceiling balcony sliding door smartly brightens up the space for which the glass door floods the room with natural light.

The carved wood coffee table is massive, big enough to serve as a dining table if you are expecting a large group of friends; if not, the cute little dining table at the corner is perfect for casual meals.

All rooms have the same decor, for the sake of fairness, I think – white walls, light wood furnishing adorned with elegant floral arrangements; bedrooms are also lightly hued with shades of bright orange, with the bed facing a wall with a built-in closet.

One noticeable is that all units are graced by different wall paintings in the living rooms from a local artist, imbuing each room with a point of difference and personality.

Each room is equipped with a smartphone on which you can unlock the front gate, activate the lift to your floor (you can only select a lift button by your key card), contact the concierge or just navigate. Next to it is a thick file of neighbourhood guides showing local staples and nearby eateries.

You may indeed want to head out for dinner because the space for cooking is compromised to give more room to the living area. The pantry is strangely located right outside the lift with basic kitchenware and one electric range; so security for the lift has to be strict, you can only select the floor number by your key card.

Connected, yet tranquil, these nicely formed serviced apartments offer guests a pleasant escape from the frantic city to bask in the warmth of a homey flow.
