Washroom Feng Shui 102 - Locate and Defense

Washroom is an important element in feng shui practice as discussed earlier in the article of Washroom in Feng Shui, it can be interpreted as negativity for its nature of use. Improper location of washroom will also adversely affect wealth, health and relationship.

Washroom feng shui has great influence on love and romance matters. Having a washroom faced the main entrance, bed or bedroom door will improve in romance for the selected few, whose right birth dates matches the settings. However, in most cases, the undesirable location of washroom will attract bad romance and complicated relationships.

Here are some tips on negative feng shui of the washroom.

Scenario 1: Facing the Kitchen Doorway
The imbalance of opposing elements of fire and water from the kitchen and washroom (See Washroom in Feng Shui to learn more about these contradicting elements) will adversely affect family relationships, interpersonal relationships and health. The complicated relationships will lead to emotional distress and gossips.

Solution: Place a broadleaf plant on upper corner of the washroom or kitchen door will help to hinder the negativity.

Scenario 2: Connecting with the Kitchen
Interconnecting bathroom and kitchen is a big “No” in feng shui practice. It is not unusual to find structured kitchen interconnecting washroom in some Hong Kong residences. It is mostly due to practical use of space, yet, the maximized usable footage comes with a heavy price tag. This interconnecting kitchen and bathroom bring negativity on health matters.

Solution: It is best to separate the washroom and kitchen into two different rooms. If that becomes impossible, placing a broadleaf potted plant or green floor mat in between the two area will help minimizing the negativity.

Scenario 3: Facing the Main Entrance
The setting brings negativity on wealth and health, especially to kidney, bladder, reproductive system and woman related disease. It is believed that to create reproductive challenges, with a higher chance of miscarriage.

Solution: It is best to relocate the doors, otherwise keep the doors shut at all times or place a broadleaf plant or use a partition to create a barrier to smoothen out the negative energy from the clash.

Scenario 4: Next to a Stove
It resembles the setting of the interconnecting kitchen and washroom. The Water and Fire elements have negative impact on health, relationships between family and friends. Having a washroom located to a stove will also bring tension and increase the chance of accident.

Solution: Relocate the stove or place a potted plant in between the stove and the washroom.

Scenario 5: Facing the Bedroom Door
It is not always a negative sign to find a washroom door facing a bedroom door, it has its pros and cons. If your birthday matches the cycle, this setting will bring you good luck and success with relationships. This setting is great for those who are working in client servicing roles. With strengthening energy in the romance sector, this setting will also bring good luck for singles and bad luck for the married, with higher chances for complications and affairs.

If your birthday does not match with the cycle, this setting will increase the chance of kidney, bladder, reproductive system and woman related disease. It will also complicate both romance and social relationships.

Solution: Keeping the doors closed at all times and placing a green floor mat outside the washroom will help to hinder the negativity.

Scenario 6: Facing the Bed
It resembles the setting of facing the bedroom door, only on its negative impacts. The setting will adversely affect one’s health, especially to the kidney, bladder, reproductive system and woman related disease.

Solution: It is best to keep the washroom door closed at all times and to place a broadleaf plant or green floor mat outside the washroom.

Scenario 7: In the Centre of the House
The centre of a residence plays an important role in feng shui practice, which incorporates “Qi” and should not be contaminated. Having a washroom situated in the centre of the house will bring negativity to everyone in the house, mostly to elderly and the masters (the hosts of the house). It will adversely affect health, especially to kidney, bladder, reproductive system and woman related disease.

Solution: It is best to be relocated, if this become impossible, it is important to keep the washroom door closed at all times. An additional defense will be to use a combination of quality ventilation system and several pots of broadleaf ever-greens (the more leaves the better) will help to hinder the negativity.
