Clintons Buy the House Next Door

Power couple Hillary and Bill Clinton have shelled out $US1.16 million for the house next door.

The former President and possible President-to-be have bought the three-bedroom ranch-style home on Old House Lane in Chappaqua, Westchester County, New York.

The purchase will create a Clinton compound, possibly to be used as a weekend retreat for their daughter Chelsea, her husband Marc Mezvinsky, and their children, Charlotte and Aidan.

Clinton and Mezvinsky sold their New York apartment in August.

According to, Bill and Hillary moved into their existing Chappaqua home in 1999.

The listing, which had been with Douglas Elliman prior to the sale, says the home boasts an open floor plan, wood floors throughout, a modern chef’s kitchen and open fireplace in the living area.

The master suite has been newly renovated and includes two walk-in wardrobes, while large windows overlook the property.

The compound trend hails back to the days of John F. Kennedy, who had three houses along Cape Cod that he used as a base for his 1960 presidential campaign, and later as a ‘summer White House’ and family retreat.
