遠東英國買地擬建逾千單位

香港文匯報訊（記者殷考玲）香港地產商積極於海外收購土地，遠東發展(0035)昨公佈，向英國鐵路網公司(Network Rail)收購位於曼徹斯特市中心20英畝的土地，以開發英國大型住宅項目Northern Gateway，項目將提供超過1,000個全新住宅單位，包括位於St Catherine s Wood的 River City Park的首批單位，連接Angel Meadow以至曼徹斯特北部。

今次收購完成後，遠東發展在曼徹斯特的土地投資將超過3,000萬英鎊(約2.92億港元)，持有的土地儲備可於未來5年提供約3,800個住宅單位。遠東董事總經理孔祥達昨表示，透過今次收購土地，對實行Northern Gateway整體規劃很重要，他認為曼徹斯特人口增長將帶動城市對住宅的需求，這些需求推動遠東在當地興建更多房屋，同時會繼續投資類似曼徹斯特等城市。
