No matter which direction you are coming from, you can easily reach OUHK by bus and mini bus, and of course, by taxi if you are really in a rush…
There are two bus terminals near The Open University of Hong Kong – Homantin Plaza on Sheung Foo Street and Oi Man Estate on Chung Hau Street. The buses originate from districts like Lok Fu, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon City and Kwun Tong etc.
If you coming from the island side or New Territories, you can always get off at the Hong Kong Auxiliary Medical Service Headquarters on Princess Margaret Road and walk uphill. It’s only a 5 minute walk. But note that the traffic at the Cross-Harbour Tunnel and Lion Rock Tunnel can get very hectic during rush hours.
Fat Kwong Street: 18, 41, 45, E21A
Homantin Plaza: 7B, 8, 17, 18, 109
Princess Margaret Road: 103, 113, 170, 182
If you feel the bus is too slow or too packed, mini bus is another option. There are 5 different green-top and red-top mini buses that stop right in front of campus. You can easily hop on one in Tsim Sha Tsui or at the Mongkok MTR etc.
Fat Kwong Street: (Green Top) 8, 27M, 27MS, 28M; (Red Top) Whampoa Garden – Homantin Estate/Oi Man Estate
Working as an interchange station for the future Kwun Tong Line Extension and Shatin to Central Link, the Homantin MTR Station is expected to open in October 2016. Until then, you can get off at Mongkok or Yaumatei station but the Mongkok MTR is better since there are more options of mini buses that connect to campus. If you live in Tokwawan, you better spare more time for your commute due to the construction of the Tokwawan MTR station (due to complete in 2018) and thus the temporary traffic management on Ma Tau Wai Road, which has made traffic in the area rather chaotic.
